Origins
After years of battling sun damage, skin cancer removals, and the ultimate shift—a full head shave—I hit my breaking point.
I still wanted to live life under the sun, but I needed something that actually protected my dome and didn’t look like a science experiment. I bought every so-called solution out there.
None delivered. So I made my own.
I've spent my whole life outdoors—running, cycling, surfing, & skiing. But all that sun exposure started to add up, and trips to the dermatologist got more frequent.
I'd tried every skull cap on the market to stay safe while continuing to be active. But none of them had any assurance of real UV protection, or the level of comfort to keep wearing it—especially under a helmet.

Enough was enough. While sitting through yet another skin cancer removal, I told my dermatologist that I wanted to create something that really works. He asked what I would call it, and I said:

Since I started this journey in 2008, Chrome Dome has grown from a bright idea to a full-fledged small business, and I still run it from my home in Carlsbad, California.

The fabric we use is specially imported from Italy, and on top of the incredible athletic performance, it is also made with 78% recycled polyamide.
Made with fabric certified to the OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100, no chemical coating, and clean manufacturing so you can feel confident in your cap.
To produce our caps, we partnered with a Women Owned Business in Colombia that meets our high standards for quality and pays fair, livable wages to their hard-working employees.
Just hand wash with mild soap and water, then hang to dry. And it won't hold onto bad smells like other athletic clothing.
